From visiting Cardiff Bay in the early nineties to the present day, the area has changed almost beyond recognition. However there are a few land marks and building which remain the same. One of which is the Pierhead building which can be seen in the right of the background. This iconic building from 1897 has stood the tests of time and is probably most easily recognised as the background to many a Welsh news bulletin. Just in front of the Pierhead building is what looks to be like part of a ships hull but when you get up close it’s a war memorial sculpture commemorating the merchant seafarers of World War II. In the distant left the Mermaid Quay complex can be seen.
